Domtar responds to speculation on potential Paper Excellence merger

Domtar has confirmed that it is in talks with Paper Excellence about a merger or acquisition.

The company says it released a statement in response to press speculation about a potential deal. On May 3, BNN Bloomberg and Yahoo! Finance posted articles about the discussions.

“These discussions may or may not result in an agreement,” Domtar says in the statement. “Domtar does not intend to make further comment unless or until there is a transaction to announce.”

Domtar is headquartered in Fort Mill, S.C. and Paper Excellence is headquartered in Richmond, B.C.
